Mick Shah is a London Wedding Photographer with a relaxed and unique style to the images he produces. We’ve been fans of his work for a while and when we saw this amazing wedding we emailed him straight away to ask if we could feature it on Bridal Soup.
Big thanks to Sarah & Steve for allowing us to feature such a great wedding, especially Sarah who took time to tell us a little more about their story…
What Sarah Johnson loves most about Steven Johnson…..
he is loving, caring, has a great sense of humour he is always making me laugh. He is my tall, dark and very handsome knight in shining armour and I love him with my whole heart for my whole life.
What Steven Johnson loves most about Sarah Johnson…
her ability to make me laugh and smile with ease and the way she can look different each day. Every time I look at her I always think how beautiful she is. She is kind, thoughtful and has a very big heart. I truly love the way she loves me.
It was 29th Feb 2012 I was painting our kitchen and listening to Fearne Cotton on the radio and she was talking to some ladies who had phoned in saying they were going to propose to their partners. Steve was in Wiltshire at the time looking after his nan and I was due to go down to join him the day after. I was quite nervous but thought what the hell. I called my local florist and ordered a bouquet of red roses and turned up on the door step and popped the question. Well he said yes and all afternoon and evening he couldn’t stop smiling.
How did you choose the wedding venue?
We wanted a tea party/village fete theme and wanted it close to home so we thought there was no better location than at our Idyllic cricket grounds in Broadway, with beautiful scenery. The spot was perfect for our village fete theme.
The best moment of the day…
Seeing each other at the Altar, looking forward to becoming Mr & Mrs Johnson and Steve seeing me in my dress.
The story of the dress…
I had an idea of what I wanted and had a few designers that I liked. I tried quite a few dresses on and must say I found it stressful to choose as I could only have one. I cant say that the dress I chose in the end was my dream dress but I looked forward to wearing the dress on the day.
Why did you choose your photographer?
We were looking on a wedding blog called Rock and Roll Bride we noticed Miki Photography and decided to look at his website. The photos were unique and individual and were nothing like other wedding photographers we had seen in the past. We thought he would capture the essence of our wedding with photos and decided to give him a call. When we spoke with Mick we thought he sounded really excited from the start and felt like we had known him for ages, he also had a great sense of humour.
What personal touches did you include in your wedding?
Everything was our own touches we designed and made everything to make it ours.
What happened that wasn’t planned?
My Boss being 45 mins to pick me up as he got lost after dropping the bridesmaids as the church!
What advice would you give couples planning their own weddings?
Make sure you have a set budget as it is easy to over spend. Write lots of lists and more lists, try not to stress and above all enjoy the experience. Try not to worry about whether the day will go to plan or if the little details are not working out, it doesn’t matter as it will all fall in to place in the end. People will not worry about little things they are there to enjoy and be with you on your special day.
